From Hollywood to Broadway

Josh Nesbitt made his conducting début at “From Hollywood to Broadway” concert, at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire on the 6th February 2018 which he devised, produced, orchestrated and conducted himself.

Featuring a 40-piece orchestra, soloists and chorus made up of students from both the University of Birmingham and the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

The program included music from Oklahoma, West Side Story, Miss Saigon, Sound of Music, Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables to name but a few.

With regards to the orchestrations, he opted for a mix of the classic movie arrangements and the modern theatrical versions. Since some of the scores, particularly for the movie versions, were not attainable so he had to transcribe the music by ear and adapt it to the orchestra.

Josh always had a passion and love for musical theatre, being introduced to various West End shows at a young age by his late grandfather, as well as numerous visits to the theatre with his family.
